It’s that time of year again. School is just on the cusp of starting. And if you’re a teacher, you know those first few weeks set the tone for the academic year.

The Teacher Will See You Now

Several former colleagues reached out to me, specifically asking for ESL ideas. While I’m no longer in the classroom, my 10+ years in the classroom as an ELA and ESL teacher garnered some ideas that I still implement today as an Education Manager for a literacy nonprofit.

The following are tips that worked for me. Keep in mind:

Teaching is like any form of creativity: the creator brings themselves to the form.

So, you can have two teachers who cover the same subject yet their implementation of the subject will be completely different. It’s kind of like a formula:

teacher+content+students=unique outcome

Tip #1: Consider Your Audience

ESL teachers often work with several Language Acquisition levels simultaneously. With the teacher shortage in America, we are seeing an increase of hybrid learning within all subject…
