My sons did the whole "Valentine's Day (mandatory) Card Swap" in elementary school. In an effort to make sure everyone received "love" in the form of a card or candy, it was basically an even trade of..."stuff."
You gave me a chuckle down memory lane, Ted. Thank you for that. Valentine's Day WAS certainly a fraught process in my childhood. There were always a handful of boys and girls who received a bevy of cards and candies. Most of us were left empty-handed, our courage to give someone we had a crush on, nil.
