A Love Letter
to the Hostages of Hate
Everyone has a story. We are children, parents, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers to each other.
Yet somehow, humanity forgets our interconnection, time and time again.
Hate is a veil that clouds our vision. It creates walls and fosters division and bloodshed.
Hate hijacks reason and anesthetizes the heart.
I see the hate on college campuses across the United States. Beneath the blind rage is fear. Hate has caused them to lose their way.
Hate is a flame that burns the blood, causing it to bleed out onto others, igniting only more in its wake.
Love is the only antidote to hate, the only way to eclipse the illusion of separation.

Words from a mother to her 23 year old son Hersh, an American held hostage by Hamas in Gaza. Words for all those suffering at the choking hands of hate.
